Bergen Performance Marine provides Yamaha and Suzuki outboard engine replacement, rigging, controls, steering integration, electrical upgrades and commissioning for eligible vessels throughout New Jersey and the NYC Metro region.
Current Engine Replacement Range
Yamaha: replacement projects up to 450 HP per engine.
Suzuki: replacement projects up to 350 HP per engine.
Final eligibility depends on vessel design, transom rating, engine availability, controls, steering, rigging requirements and the approved project scope.
Engine Replacement Is More Than Hanging a New Outboard
A reliable replacement starts with the whole propulsion system. We evaluate the existing installation and determine what can remain, what should be upgraded and what must change for the new engine package.
Engine & Transom Fit
Review engine count, shaft length, mounting, transom condition, weight limits and vessel application.
Controls & Harnesses
Evaluate compatible controls, key switches, harnesses, engine interfaces and helm components required by the replacement package.
Steering
Inspect the existing steering system and determine whether hydraulic, power-assist or integrated steering changes are required.
Fuel & Filtration
Review fuel supply, hoses, separators, filters, tank condition and delivery requirements before installation.
Electrical & Charging
Check batteries, cables, switching, charging capacity, grounds and related 12V systems that support the new engine package.
Gauges & Engine Data
Coordinate compatible instrumentation, engine data and network integration where applicable to the selected engine and helm package.
Single, Twin & Multi-Engine Replacement Projects
We can evaluate single- and multi-outboard replacement projects based on the boat’s original design, transom capacity, existing rigging and available engine configuration. The scope may include removal of the existing engines, new mounting hardware, steering and control work, wiring, batteries, fuel-system work, gauges and post-installation testing.
Repowering from another engine brand can require substantially more rigging than replacing like-for-like. We identify those differences before the estimate is finalized.
Our Engine Replacement Process
Document the current engines, shaft length, mounting, controls, steering, fuel system, electrical system and helm.
Determine the engine configuration and supporting rigging needed for the approved replacement.
Remove the existing outboards as applicable, prepare the vessel and install the approved engine package and rigging.
Complete system checks, configuration, operational testing and sea-trial evaluation where applicable.

Yamaha and Suzuki outboard replacement projects are available for eligible vessels throughout Northern New Jersey, the Jersey Shore, Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook, the Hudson River and the NYC Metro region where vessel location, access and project scope permit.
