Bergen Performance Marine provides boat engine diagnostics for outboard, inboard and sterndrive systems in Northern New Jersey. Our diagnostic process is designed to identify the root cause of a complaint before major parts are replaced or unnecessary labor is authorized.

Codes are only part of the diagnosis

A stored fault code can identify the system that detected a problem, but it does not always identify the failed component. We use scan information together with electrical, mechanical and visual testing to narrow the failure down before recommending repairs.

Useful information before your appointment

When requesting diagnostic service, provide the engine make and model, approximate hours, recent repairs, warning messages and a clear description of when the problem occurs. Intermittent issues are easier to diagnose when operating conditions can be reproduced.
